Servers:
Extra servers can be purchased from KS for two purposes: increased concurrency needs or for those who wish to buy KS "software-only" packages. KS servers are fully commissioned and tested servers.

NOTE: To determine server needs consider the following benchmark: 100,000 search queries per 24 hour period with index size as stated in tables below. Add duplicate configurations for every 100,000 hits per period.

Test kits
Test kits and index cleaners can also be purchased for go-live testing and staging.

Step One: All servers are pre-configured for KS products to ensure simplified commissioning and start-up (installed with CentOS version 4, Tomcat, Apache, MySQL, JDK etc). Depending on your use of servers (concurrency and options) XM-1 is sufficient a 100% load increase for concurrency, crawling and indexing.

Step Three: The index cleaner is a useful tool to remove unwanted and stray terms from an index. Index processors store any and all alphanumeric terms in the search index. Unwanted terms consume RAM and hard drive space, but can be cleaned. Unclean indexes do not impact performance significantly but cleaning is available as a secondary optimization strategy.
